About Contemporary Scottish Artist, Seona Mason

Seona Mason is a contemporary Scottish artist whose practice bridges classical training and experimental material processes.

Seona studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, graduating in Sculpture and completing a postgraduate degree in Ceramic Sculpture with commendation. She was later appointed the first Artist in Residence at the Crawford Centre for the Arts at the University of St Andrews. Furthering her practice internationally, she undertook postgraduate study at Ruth Prowse Kunstskool in Cape Town, supported by the Rotary Foundation Graduate Award.

Her work is primarily figurative, exploring the relationship between material and form. Using heat, manipulation and mixed media, she creates sculptures from vinyl, paper, ceramics, stone and wood.

She has exhibited widely across Scotland, including the Royal Scottish Academy, The Glasgow Art Club, The Smith (Perth), Stirling Smith Art Gallery, and galleries in Edinburgh. She has also collaborated with David Mach RA at the City Art Centre, Edinburgh, on the installation City of God.
