Combining multiple pieces of used vinyl records to create contemporary figurative forms - locally sourced stone plinths reference the artist's classical training.
Unlike Seona's REmuse series, her Vinyl Valkyries are made using multiple pieces of music records that are formed and moulded individually before combining them to create the final sculpture. Her abstract style invokes movement, and combined with the texture of the melted vinyl, draws comparison to hardened lava. Geology and natural stone are of particular interest to Seona, living and gaining inspiration from the coastline of East Lothian. The area is abundant with jasper, agate and botanical fossils and particularly significant further south to Siccar Point, where the theory of Genesis was de-bunked by James Hutton due to what is now known as Hutton's Unconformity.
